Attempted Runner.

Race Recap: The Color Run and an overload of photos.

The San Jose Color Run was today, and I do declare they need to rename it to the Color Fun.

My sister picked up our bibs and t-shirts last night, so we didn’t have to get there too early. Therefore, I didn’t have to wake up super early. I still woke up at 5:30 though…

and Lucky runderwear

I took a shower, put on my lucky runderwear, KT tape and got dressed (all is obvious), ate breakfast then headed to my sisters. We picked up the last member of our turtle pack and made it to San Jose. We found FREE parking that wasn’t too far away (about .25 miles) and played around at the expo. They were tossing fanny packs, sweatshirts, bags, color packs and Frisbees into the crowd.  I was awesome and caught a Frisbee, but ended up giving it to some little girl who was decked out in color run swag. This year, the pre race warm up consisted of doing Zumba. It was my first time doing zumba and I think I was pretty coordinated and lasted 10-15 minutes, then I got hot and didn’t want to tire myself out before the run.  It was getting close to our start time, so we headed over to the starting line and that is when the fun began….

Pink was the first color we ran through at 1k.

Followed by yellow.

Can’t remember if green or blue came next…and purple was in there somewhere…..but shortly after was the water station.

Best. Water. Cup. Ever!

My Ipod tracked us at 2.9 miles (my Ipod is a little off, so I GPS the course later and confirmed it was only 2.96 miles), which was shorter than a 5k obviously. We even went a completely different route than what the course map originally had laid out. My guess is that the City of San Jose requested a course change because they didn’t want the main roads closed off for too long. Oh, well…still had fun regardless of course direction and distance. After finishing, we got Kind Bars and the new Red Bull and partied it up in the (what I like to call) Color Bomb area for about 1/2 hour until our esophagus’ started to burn. I guess one can only inhale colored corn starch for so long.

My cranberry Red Bull and our after race photo.

I know our after race photo doesn’t look like we got a whole lot of color, but just wait….it gets better because this was the Color Bombs I mentioned.

Every ten minutes you get REALLY colorful…..

….because this is what it looks like inside the Color Bombs.

Color sticks better in the Color Bomb pit.

360 degrees of color. It looks like a unicorn farted on me (a friend said it looks like a Unicorn diarrhea’d all over me…haha she’s so funny).

After playin’ in the after party, we walked over to Chiptole (after race tradition meal) in full color and everything! Driving home (2-3 hours later) I still was blowing color our of my nose. I took a shower but it didn’t help much. I still have some color stained in certain places……all great reminders of how much fun I had today. The Color Run will definitely be on my list of repeat races for next year.

Epic day. PS I think we only had 4 colors and the 5th was the water spray after the water station.
